Finals: My course reflection

I decided to do both of my assignments in one. What were you passionate about? Which reading, subject, or discussion did not resonate with you?

Where do you go from here? How has this class inspired you to continue your studies of issues related to the African diaspora? What study skills have you acquired from this class that may carry over to other classes? What specific class content questions do you want me to address?

Honestly, there are so many questions to answer and this class was one of my best. I was passionate about learning about the black experience rather than something I have heard repeatedly. I was happy to hear about other historical figures and how they relate to mine. I think whether or not i recognized this course resonated with something inside me. Something I didn't know I needed to know, it opened me up to new perspectives.

The African Diaspora

From here, I extend my research on what I've learned and I learn about other cultures and how they relate to the diaspora. I think that finding out my ancestry in California relates to the great migration was the highlight to the class. " If you are from California, it is likely your relatives come from Louisiana and Texas," and they do! I truly want to know how the diaspora affected the legal system because from my perspective I only know how the american justice system affects African Americans. I have learned more ways to research and background check information. It is instilled in me that I do not trust the first source I come across but to look into the author and the sources from which the author gets their evidence,

Overall, I was truly happy to have experienced this class and really challenged me to apply myself and hold myself to higher standards. This class has taught me so much about myself on a personal level whether it related to the course work. The way I interpreted the literature and worked in pairs helped me understand my learning style. It was truly an honor. Cheers to passing COMMS 300. Prayers to passing finals!
